Inspiring Future Scientists: “Girls in STEAM” Workshop at Riga Technical University

In an exciting step towards encouraging scientific careers among young girls, Riga Technical University (RTU), through its Children and Youth University, recently hosted the “Girls in STEAM” workshop.

Throughout this inspiring event, students had the opportunity to explore the fascinating world of polymers in a dynamic and engaging environment.

The workshop was led by Anda Fridrihsone from LSIWC an internationally recognized researcher and laureate of the L’Oréal Baltic “For Women in Science” award, honored for her innovative work in developing environmentally friendly polyurethanes like those developed in BIODESIGN4INSULATION project.

Participants experienced hands-on experimentation, observed real foaming reactions, and took their first steps into the world of scientific research.

RTU’s “Girls in STEAM” initiative marks a decisive move towards building a future where more women confidently pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. Anda Fridrihsone serves as a powerful role model, demonstrating that women not only belong in science, but they lead and inspire the next generation.
